UPPUKUZHY MISSION

Uppukuzhy Mission is located in Thenmala Panchayath, which is 12 KMs away from the Punalur Town. The mission area comprises about 300 families, having marginal access to Finance, Health and Education. Dysfunctional families, Single parenthood, Unmarried mothers, Parents and children addicted
to drugs are the crucial issues that are facing the community. In 2012 Abu Dhabi Mar Thoma Yuvajana
Sakhyam and The Mar Thoma Dayara Samooham took it as a divine call to respond to these crucial issues facing this area and empower them to integrate with the main stream. The first mission was to provide education to the children by starting a Tuition Center giving free tuition and supply of the required study materials and transportation facility to the School. Through this work about 120 persons came to faith and have been baptized and joined with the Church. In the second phase there emerged the need for a Mission Center for a common meeting place for the children and believers and for holding various mission activities. Therefore, 20 Cents of land near the current building at Uppukuzhy was purchased
using funds raised through the ‘Sneharagam 2015’ program. The foundation stone of the Mission Centre building was laid by Rev. Prakash Abraham in March 2015. The long cherished dream of a Mission Centre came to reality on 2nd January 2017 through the Dedication Ceremony of the center by Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa, in the presence of Rev. Prakash Abraham (President, Abu Dhabi Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam) and Rev. P. Philip (Acharaya, Mar Thoma Dayara Samooham).
