Abu Dhabi Mar Thoma Parish has always been in the forefront of expressing our social concern and responsibility towards the poor and marginalized in the society. Holistic development of the society is our prime objective. Significant amounts are distributed every year directly to the poor and needy towards medical, education, marriage and housing aid on the basis of applications after due verification. Special support is provided for treatment of people, suffering from critical illness. A total of 69 Evangelists and missionaries in various mission fields are supported by our Prayer groups, each one sponsoring one or more evangelists placed at various missionary locations in India. Sizeable amounts are also donated for the construction of Churches in rural areas through our Diocese.
Our Parish is quick and spontaneous to respond whenever and wherever help is required due to natural calamities and disastrous events. Examples include Chennai Flood relief (2015), Gujarat Earthquake relief (2001), Kargil War relief (1999),
Orissa Cyclone/Flood relief (1999), Maharashtra Earthquake relief (1993), Somalia relief via Red Crescent Society (1993), Kuwait War crisis relief (1990) and Relief work in Assam (1983).
Our social welfare and outreach missionary activities comprise a wide spectrum of diversified ministries, viz. Mission Fields,
Hospitals, Hospital guidance Centres, Orphanages, Rehabilitation Centres, Educational institutions, Students’ ministry etc.
The following are some of the major beneficiaries of our financial support, other than wholly sponsored mission projects. The purpose of publishing this is to make our members especially the upcoming generation aware of such missionary activities and inspire their greater participation for the extension of God’s kingdom.

The Chennai - Bangalore student’s ministry is currently serving 23 Centers in
the diocese. The aim of Student’s and Media Centre is to give sufficient orientation
and guidance to our students to equip and make use of the modern
media of communication for mission and evangelism.

Helps the poor in treatment of major ailments like Cancer, AIDS, Diseases related

The project involves, construction of churches, Balawadies, Tuition classes
in villages, Tailoring classes for rural women, Education, medical, housing &

Pollachi Mission –‘Anpin Karangal’ Project
Provides financial support to adopted villages for rehabilitation of HIV/AIDS
and cancer patients, especially children; Facilitates enrollment of children in
the village schools, and provides a common place for studies and homework
for these children when they return in the evenings. Provided help as part of
the 40th Anniversary project.

Mar Thoma Guidance and Fellowship Home, Vellore
The Guidance Home at Vellore extends services to the sick and the needy,
irrespective of caste, religion and class. It functions as a haven of hope for the
patients and their relatives coming to seek medical assistance from the Christian
Medical College Hospital, Vellore. The main focus is to help the people who are
in distress, agony and loneliness. We significantly supported construction and
development of the Guidance centre

Valiya Metropolitan’s Navathy Project & Home for Homeless Project

Dharma Jyoti Vidya Peeth
This is a centre for theological and development studies started by the Mar Thoma
Church in 2000, with a special focus of training young men and women for the
mission of the Church in north India. We supported construction of a beautiful
Chapel there, which became an iconic attraction of the Centre

Hoskote Mission
The Missionary activities include evangelization, health care to the poor and needy,
Leprosy Mission and Shanthi Mandiram to take care of the marginalized. We
provided help to construct 2nd floor of the Nursing Institute in the name of ‘Abu
Dhabi Mar Thoma Parish Block’

Hospital Guidance & Counselling Centre, Manipal
The Centre serves to help the patients who come to Kasturba Medical College,
Manipal. Accommodation facilities (rooms and dormitories) are given for a
nominal rent. Guidance is provided to the patients who come newly to this place
and also help to the poor and needy. Visiting the inpatients, bedside prayers and
providing spiritual guidance are some of the main activities of the Center.

Navajeevan Centre, Khapri, Thane Dist, Maharashtra
Navjeevan Centre is a new concept in community living, started to take care of the
children of Sex workers in Red light district who are exploited and mostly infected
with HIV/AIDS. The milestones include, Navjeevan orphanage, Residential school,
Home for the disabled, Centre for the distressed, Centre for counselling & rehabilitation,
Home for the destitute and terminally ill, Juvenile rehabilitation centre, Home
for the aged, Retreat centre, Village development centre and Vocational guidance
centre. We helped in development of the centre.

Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Metropolitan Housing Project
Housing aid project consisting of 125 houses. We supported this as
part of the Silver Jubilee of our Parish

Maramon Convention Centenary Endowment Fund
Constituted an endowment in the name of “The Mar Thoma Parish
Abu Dhabi - Maramon Convention Centenary Endowment Fund” for
supporting evangelists.

Asha Bhavan, Pathanapuram
This is a hostel for the physically challenged, nourishing their inherent potentials
to overcome their physical difficulties. Children from various communities stay
together as a family here. Space for rehabilitation and training is also provided for
these students which ensure their edification and self-sustenance. We supported
construction of a building block.

Sihora Ashram
This is the first mission centre of the Mar Thoma Church in North India. The main
activities include Schools in villages, Medical work through hospitals and village
clinics, Destitute homes, Hostels, Library, etc. Our contribution was for Easow
Mar Timotheos Memorial building fund.

Mar Thoma School for the Deaf
This institution focuses in the schooling and rehabilitation of the poor
Hearing Impaired Children. We have constructed a building block in
the name of Abu Dhabi Mar Thoma Parish.

Mar Thoma College, Chungathara
The College, established in 1981, is an institution for Rural Development, since it
was established in an educationally, socially and financially backward area. It strives
to impart quality education without distinction of caste, colour or creed and aims for the
enlightenment and well-being of all. We supported its initial establishment.
