About Us

“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing”

(Psalm 92: 13-14)

The dusk of Friday, November 8, 2002, saw the Senior Citizens Forum bloom in the lush landscape of Abu Dhabi under the iconic structure of the Mar Thoma Church, Abu Dhabi. The formation of this Forum under the able leadership and guidance of the then Vicar Rev. C. Yohannan added a new Chapter to the illustrious history of our Church.  The story of the Forum over the years is a story of growth from a humble beginning to a stronger and mature fellowship rooted in God’s abundant grace and mercy.

All members of the Church, who have completed the age of 55 years and above are eligible members of this Forum. The Senior Citizens meet on every 2nd Tuesday of the month, usually at members’ residences, presided over by the Vicar or Assistant Vicar. In addition to Singing, Bible Reading, Intercessory prayer and Devotional message, innovative programs such as Physical fitness exercise, Health tips and Entertainment programs viz. Kusruthy Chodyangal, Kadamkadhakal, etc. led by the members are held during every meeting. This helps the Forum members to interact better and bind together as a group to grow in fellowship.

The Senior Citizens actively participate in Church activities. ‘Senior Citizens day’ is celebrated in the Church every year in September, during which the members assist in the Holy Communion service, Lesson reading, Prayer and Offertory taking. Other activities of the Forum include Visits to members’ residences in need, Visits to hospitals to offer fellowship and prayers for the sick members, Farewell to outgoing members, Yearly picnic, etc. The Forum is also active in expressing its social concern and responsibility in deeds. E.g. Support to Valiya Matropolitan’s Navathy Home for Homeless project (2007), Navajeeva Kendram Rehabilitation Centre at Malayalappuzha (2015), etc. A ‘fruit-bearing life’ is the purpose of every member of the Forum.
